COD offers free Somatics class April 29

College of DuPage Dance/Theatre faculty member Diane Wawrejko, Ph.D., MFA, CMT, will host a free Somatics Master Class for fine and performing artists from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29, in the Dance Studio, PE 101 at the college, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

The Somatics course at COD teaches students how to maximize kinesthetic levels without strain for greater proficiency and longer careers. The course introduces students to the scientific anatomical principles underlying the complexities of movement for efficient function for fine and performing artists.

Topics include proper alignment, breathing, an introduction to somatic/body therapy techniques, ideokinesis and massage.

The Somatics Master Class is open to students, faculty, staff and community members. Please wear comfortable clothing.
