AU to host criminal justice career fair

Daily Herald report

Aurora University will host a third annual Criminal Justice Career Fair from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the University Banquet Hall in Alumni Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place.

Kane County Sheriff Pat Perez will give the keynote address at 2 p.m. Initially sworn in as sheriff in 2006, he was re-elected in February.

Brandon Kooi, director of the AU Criminal Justice program, said the fair has two goals: to provide an opportunity for students and members of the community to obtain information about various organizations and career opportunities in the field of criminal justice, and to provide agencies an opportunity to network with other agencies and obtain information on educational programs offered at AU.

AU will launch a master’s degree program in criminal justice in August. Information about the program will be available at the fair.

Sponsors of the fair are AU’s criminal justice program, American Criminal Justice Association chapter, Crouse Center for Student Success, Campus Public Safety and Center for Adult and Graduate Studies.

Representatives of more than 30 agencies are scheduled to provide career and internship information, including the Bolingbrook, Plainfield, DuPage County, Warrenville, Elgin, AU Campus Public Safety, and Chicago police departments; Illinois State Police; Office of Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor’s Office; Drug Enforcement Administration; Secret Service; Fish and Wildlife Service; OIG Railroad Retirement; 16th Circuit Court; Target Stores; Dick’s Sporting Goods; Protocol Global Solutions; Mutual Ground; and DUComm.
