Be happy you have a job, teachers

The situation at Elgin Community College is exactly one of many reasons I do not like unions.

In this current economic climate, pay freezes and requests to share in health care insurance are the necessary evil. Strong-arming with threats of a strike will only hurt the students who have worked so hard toward their careers and the families paying for them.

Bluntly said, be thankful you have a job. There are millions of people out there who have already had pay freezes, pay cuts, lost their insurance and some still lost their jobs. Finding work isn’t what it used to be, either. The old phrase, “That’s not enough,” doesn’t work anymore, and until our government, both political sides, focuses away from all their agendas and distractions and work harder on our country’s economy, things are only going to get worse.
