Fremd kept control of the Mid-Suburban West race by topping host Schaumburg 8-3 in girls water polo Monday.

Samantha Matuszewski scored 3 goals and Sam Del Prado had 2 for the Vikings (14-0, 6-0).

Schaumburg (8-6, 4-2), which is tied with Conant for second place in the divison, got a pair of goals from Kristy Bessler.

Palatine 9, Barrington 8 (OT): The host Pirates outscored the Fillies 3-2 in the second overtime session to earn their first Mid-Suburban West victory of the season.

Paige Wainwright led Palatine (2-11, 1-5) with 4 goals, and Nicole Huffman and Nicole Theis had 2 goals apiece.

Conant 8, Hoffman Estates 6: Gina Iaffaldano produced 4 goals as the Cougars produced 3 fourth-quarter goals to stay ahead of the Hawks in MSL West play.

Lucie Banahan made 11 saves in goal for the Cougars (9-7, 4-2), and Rachel Gallo scored 3 goals to lead Hoffman Estates (4-8, 1-5).

Hersey 6, Wheeling 5: Christine Rovani came up with 4 goals to help the Huskies (10-7) edge Wheeling and climb into a second-place tie with the Wildcats in the Mid-Suburban East. Both teams are 4-2 in the division; Prospect leads at 6-0.

Rachel Murphy produced 3 goals for Wheeling (7-8).
