The popular Traveling World of Reptiles Show comes to EXPO - 4/30
The popular Traveling World of Reptiles Show is coming!
Kids of all ages will have a rare opportunity to be introduced to a variety of exotic animals, when the Reptile Show makes it's debut at noon during the Extreme Block Party EXPO, April 30 at the Libertyville Sports Complex. Show admission is free.
Generally speaking, The Traveling World of Reptiles show is an up-close, live, and extremely interactive or "hands on" experience about reptiles and amphibians from around the world.
"We blend education and a unique style of humor to form a totally original experience that makes our presentations every bit as entertaining as they are educational," says the show's founder Dave DiNaso.
In 1993, Dave started the Traveling World of Reptiles show to teach children and adults why dangerous, venomous and feared animals are necessary to the environment in which they live. We do not persuade the audience to "like" these animals, but rather to "respect" them and give a better understanding as to why they must be protected in the wild.
Dave notes that the growing interest in captive reptiles demands that we educate people how to properly handle and care for their pets, as well as teach kids why some reptiles may not always make good pets even though they can be purchased at many local pet stores. "Reptiles are the main focus, but we also dispell the myths surrounding other animals such as spiders and scorpions," he said.
The show performs regularly across the state at public libraries schools, park districts, scout functions, county fairs, festivals, nature centers, camps, birthday parties, block parties, senior centers, day care centers, and corporate events. The Traveling World of Reptiles show has been featured in hundreds of newspapers and on dozens of television and radio programs including appearences on Animal Planet, The Jenny Jones show, WGN morning news, ABC news, CBS news and many more.
The Extreme Block Party is presented by the GLMV, Gurnee, Grayslake, Lake County Chamber of Commerce. The EXPO will feature 60+ vendors, entertainment, raffles, games, food, fun and more for the whole family. Hours are 10 am to 3 pm. Show admission is free. Libertyville Sports Complex is located at the corner of Rt. 45/Peterson Road.
The Reptile Show is sponsored by Carmel Catholic High School.
