Annual 'Groovin' in the Grove' race set for Mother's Day Weekend

Kick off Mother's Day weekend by participating in the annual “Groovin' in the Grove” 5K Run and Fun Walk, coordinated by the Sports Medicine Club of Midwestern University, on Saturday, May 7 at Midwestern University, 555 31st St. in Downers Grove.

The race, held rain or shine, is a great family event and open to all interested participants.

The race is designed for people of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels. Start time for adult runners and walkers is 9 a.m.

Children are also welcome to participate in separate events, including 1K and ½ K races and a 100-yard dash. Registration and packet pick-up opens at 7:30 a.m.

In addition to the run/walk, there will be refreshments, raffle prizes, pre- and post-race massages, face painting, a moon jump, and other entertainment. The first mom to cross the finish line will be recognized in addition to the top three male and female overall winners. All moms who run or walk receive a flower.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the DuPage PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) agency.
