Huntley splits with Hononegah: The Red Raiders (3-6) fell behind early and could not recover as they were defeated by Hononegah in Game 1 6-1. Brittany Koss led Huntley with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate with 1 run scored while Taylor Larson recorded the Red Raiders’ lone RBI going 2-for-4. Larson (2-4) suffered the loss as she went the distance, giving up 6 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out three.
In Game 2, Ashley Laxner (1-1) earned her first career, varsity win in the circle as she scattered 8 hits and struck out two to lead the Red Raiders to a 5-4 victory. Tara Lycos (4-for-4) and Angela Tribuzzio (2-for-2, 2B, RBI) were perfect at the plate to lead the Red Raiders while Sam Brushaber went 2-for-3 and Kelsey Hagan recorded a 2-run home run.
South Elgin 4, Oswego East 1: The Storm (8-3) extended their win streak to 7 games as they defeated Oswego East on the road. Sam Bolin (7-2) earned the victory in the circle while also recording a single at the plate. Taylor Rees went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI to lead the Storm.
Streamwood drops a doubleheader: The Sabres (1-7) dropped both games to Downers Grove South by the scores of 13-2 and 6-2. In Game 1, Holley Foret led the Sabres as she went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Kelsey Johnson suffered the loss in the circle as she pitched 4 innings.
In Game 2, Bri Bodagewicz was 1-for-3 with a run scored while Kellee Longquest suffered the complete game loss in the circle.
Burlington Central sweeps Libertyville: The Rockets (5-4) brought the offense on the road as they scored a total of 21 runs on the day to defeat Libertyvile 12-5 and 9-6. Bekah Harnish (4-for-5, double, home run), Emily Bell (3-for-5, 2 doubles, 5 RBI), Sarah Kisch (2-for-5, 2 doubles, 2 RBI), and Audrey Djukic (3-for-4) all paced the Rockets’ offense in the first game. Brooke Gaylord (1-1) earned her first victory of the year as she threw 4 innings, allowing 1 hit, 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.
In Game 2, the Rockets jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and held on to earn the sweep. Emily Bell (home run), Rebecca Roscher (double), Haley Albamonte, and Amanda Ritchie (RBI) all recorded multihit games with 2 hits a piece. Roscher (3-1) earned the win in the circle as scattered 6 hits and struck out 1 in 4 innings of work.
Bartlett splits with Naperville North: The Hawks (4-6) fell in Game 1 9-2 as they could not produce enough offense. Jacki Gulczynski recorded a home run while Steph Tomazin knocked in the Hawks’ other run. Alicia Salata (0-3) suffered the loss as she gave up 10 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3 in 3 innings of work.
In Game 2, the Hawks successfully pulled off a suicide squeeze with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at 7-7 and then Salata delivered the game-winning single to give Bartlett the 8-7 victory. Brittany Idler went 3-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI while Cara Carrion knocked in 2 runs. Amanda Montbriand (3-1) earned the complete game victory as she scattered 9 hits and walked two while striking out two.
Hampshire 12, Round Lake 1: The Whip-Purs (2-6) scored 12 runs on just 4 hits to earn a 5 inning, run-rule victory over Round Lake. Jennifer Hurst (1-5) picked up her first victory of the year as she threw 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out six.
Wheaton Academy 21, Westminster Christian 6: The Warriors (2-3) fell behind 10-0 after the top of the first and could not recover as they were defeated by Wheaton Academy. Rachel Fugiel led the Warriors offensively with 2 home runs and 5 RBI while Porsche Griggs recorded a home run as well. Katie Moeller went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored at the plate and suffered the loss in the circle.
Jacobs loses 2 at Palatine Quad: The Golden Eagles (3-3) suffered a loss against Leyden in Game 1, 6-2 and to the host Pirates 7-1. Amber Livingston suffered the loss in the first game while Marissa Lombardo took the loss in the circle in the second game as she struck out six and walked just one.
Judson goes 3-1 in Iowa: The Eagles (21-11) racked up 3 more victories as they defeated Ashford 9-1, Purdue-North Central 12-0, and Hannibal-LaGrange 10-2. Their only defeat came at the hands of Mt. Mercy 7-4. Nicole Dimiceli and Carrie Sensor each recorded 2 hits and 2 RBI against Ashford. Katie Talbot went 1-1 in the circle for the Eagles while Sam Gladen and Sarah Boyer each picked up a victory as well.
