Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup

Freshman Savanah Uveges is not only scoring at a record clip for the South Elgin girls soccer team this season, she now has a school record already in the young season.

Uveges set the school mark for quickest goal, scoring just 22 seconds in to the Storm’s 4-1 win over Dundee-Crown Wednesday at the South Elgin Spring Break Tournament.

Uveges, who scored twice in Wednesday’s win, now has 10 goals on the season. Lauren Vedrine had a goal and an assist for the Storm and Jill Ellison added a goal. Jessica Besimon had an assist as well.

Emily Young made 3 saves in goal for South Elgin.

Stephanie Letheby scored Dundee-Crown’s lone goal off an assist from Jill Wiechmann. Alli Sanders had 10 saves in goal for the Chargers (0-4).

Jacobs 2, Fenwick 1: The Golden Eagles won the fifth-place game of the St. Francis Invite on PKs. Cassidy Sherman scored Jacobs’ goal in regulation time off an assist from Margaret Rivera. Catie Sherman, Lauren Grady, Cassidy Sherman, Shannon Grady, Monnica Orjeula and Lizzie Travis scored PKS for the Eagles. Orjeula made 6 saves in goal for the win.

Benet 3, Cary-Grove 0: The Trojans couldn’t find the back of the net and fell to Benet Academy in the championship game of the St. Francis Invite.

Bartlett 1, Hampshire 0: Amanda Zindel scored a first-half goal off an assist from Jess Cosentino as the Hawks (5-1-1) prevailed in the South Elgin tournament. Natalia Grodzki had 1 save in the net for Bartlett, while Haylee Moscato and Alex Dumoulin combined for 15 saves for Hampshire (0-1-3).

West Chicago 1, CL South 0: West Chicago’s Megan Radloff scored with under 2 minutes to play in this South Elgin tournament game. Elizabeth Quinn had 2 saves in the net for the Gators (1-3-1).
