Tivoli Theatre to screen 'Happy Feet' Feb. 12

“Love is in the Air” is the theme of this year's Ice Sculpture Festival, the weekend of Feb. 12-13, sponsored by Downtown Downers Grove Management Corp. As part of the family fun activities, the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Ave., is presenting the PG-rated animated film, “Happy Feet,” at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12. Admission is only $1.

A comedic adventure, “Happy Feet” is set deep in Antarctica. Into the land of the Emperor penguins, where each penguin needs a Heartsong to attract a soul mate, a penguin is born who cannot sing. Our hero Mumble (Elijah Wood), son of Memphis (High Jackman) and Norma Jean (Nicole Kidman), is the worst singer in the world. However, as it happens, he is a brilliant dancer.

After the showing of “Happy Feet,” patrons should take a stroll through downtown Downers Grove, where decorative ice sculptures, provided by local merchants, will line the streets.

A map listing all the sculptures and activities will be available at the theatre.

The two-day Ice Sculpture Festival promises to be an entertaining weekend filled with numerous activities for all ages. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be ice carving demonstrations featuring national ice carving competitors and students as well as a morning pancake breakfast and face painting.
