Girls basketball / Lake County roundup

Morgan Jahnke sank four 3-pointers and Grant's girls basketball team hit seven, in total, as the Bulldogs defeated visiting Lakes 53-48 in North Suburban Prairie Division action Thursday night.

Kassie Stimpson scored a game-high 14 points for Grant (6-11, 4-1), while Jahnke and Donnie Taggart added 13 and 11, respectively.

Lakes (6-12, 2-4) was paced by Terese McMahon's 13 points. Ashley Parmly had nine, while Ashlee Cunningham and Amanda Smith each chipped in eight.

“John had his kids fired up and ready to play,” Lakes coach Pete Schneider said of Grant coach John Eiduke. “(Grant) is a good team and shows the heart that it takes to win.”

Antioch 44, Vernon Hills 31: Andi Potkonjak scored a game-high 17 points, including three 3-pointers, and dished out 5 assists, as the host Sequoits won their eighth in a row.

Antioch (12-6, 4-2 North Suburban Prairie) also got 10 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds from Lindsey Gofron and 7 points and 9 rebounds from Lauren Tiffany. Megan Borries sank a pair of 3s and scored 9 points.

Vernon Hills (8-10, 4-3) was led by Sydney Smith's 8 points.
