Naperville councilman to appears in 'Gypsy'
The Summer Place Theatre Inc, the premier community theatre of Naperville since the 1966 in collaboration with Traveling Trunk Entertainment, will produce the classic musical, “Gypsy, “ with Naperville Councilman Bob Fieseler appearing in a few interesting places!
“I have been a major supporter of the Arts in Naperville and I wanted to be a part of this exciting project with Naperville's longest running community theater, “ said Fieseler. “It will be fun participating and being a part of the cast.”
Fieseler is no stranger to the stage, having performed on stage in high school and college – but his main role in theater has been as an audience member, watching his daughter Annie perform at the American Girl Theater in Chicago, in dance programs at Naperville Central, and most recently – he sat in the audience to support his wife Mary Ellen in a cabaret that supported Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center's Silent Samaritans program.
“Yes, I guess it is my turn to put on my theater shoes! I love theater and the arts – so I have always been happy to support the performers, but this time, I'll be the one on stage!”
And, Summer Place Theater couldn't be happier to have Bob as a member of the cast!
“Gypsy” will be performed Feb 4-5,11-12, at 8 p.m. and Feb. 6 and 13 at 2 p.m. at Center Stage Theater, 1665 Quincy Ave., #131; Naperville. Tickets are $18; $15 for students and seniors; $11 for children, age 5-12. Please call (630) 355.7969 or e-mail boxoffice@summerplacetheatre.org.
The Summer Place Theatre has been Naperville's community theatre since the 1966. Founded by Donald Jamison and Dr. Donald Shanower of North Central College in 1966, the first seasons were held in a circus tent on an empty parking lot with seats donated by a local movie house. After several tornadoes the site was replaced with an outdoor pavilion, which, thanks to the Great Blizzard of 1979, was again replaced. Since then the company moved from Naperville Central High School to Meilly-Swallow Hall on the campus of North Central College and now to Center Stage Theatre.
