Wauconda park candidates stay
Two incumbents on the Wauconda Park District board who are seeking re-election will remain on the April 5 ballot after Lake County election officials on Monday struck down challenges to their nominating petitions.
Twelve of board President Eileen Geary's 52 petition signatures were challenged as not being registered at the addresses listed, and three were stricken, leaving her with 49 signatures, one over the required 48.
Twenty-three of board member Stefani Schweda-Jerard's signatures were challenged but only one was removed, leaving her with 50 valid signatures.
The challenges were brought by Bob Cook, another incumbent board member running for re-election who also heads the Lake County Republican party.
