Neo-Futurists bring 'Too Much Light' to ECC stage

The Neo-Futurists will offer a lightning-fast romp through 30 original plays in 60 minutes during “Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind” on Saturday, Dec. 11 at Elgin Community College. The Chicago-based ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. at the ECC Arts Center's Blizzard Theatre on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Debuting in December 1988, “Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind” is the longest-running theatrical production in Chicago history. Created and performed by the Neo-Futurists, a troupe of actors/playwrights that is highly regarded as one of America's most experimental theater companies, it shifts from play to play with breakneck speed, encourages audience participation and is always unpredictably entertaining. Plays can range from absurdly hilarious to poignant and thought-provoking.

Each play is written by a performer, honed by the ensemble, and randomly collaged with 29 other plays through high-energy audience participation. The plays change weekly as ensemble members add new plays to the existing body of work.

Tickets are $20. This is an adults-only show as some subject matter may not be appropriate for children.
