ECC holds cancer fundraiser

Elgin Community College is hosting its eighth annual Jimmy V “Never Give Up” fundraiser for cancer research starting at noon on Friday, Oct. 22.

The event starts with a silent auction of sports memorabilia from noon to 9 p.m. in the lobby of the Spartan Events Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Winning bidders can pick up their items from 9 to 10 p.m.

The centerpiece of the event is a basketball doubleheader featuring ECC's men's and women's teams facing club teams from Northwestern University.

The games start at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

Proceeds benefit the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research, which has raised more than $80 million since 1993 for cancer research. Call (847) 214-7249.
