Hollywood and Broadway tunes fit ECC concert bill

Elgin Community College's Concert Band kicks off the fall performance season with a tribute to old Hollywood and new Broadway at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the ECC Arts Center's Blizzard Theatre, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

“If you enjoy soundtracks and Broadway shows, you're going to love this performance, says James A. Kull, the ECC Concert Band's music director and ECC adjunct music instructor.

“This concert is a great way to display the talent and dedication of our music students.

“New Classics: Broadway Meets Hollywood will include a medley ranging from classic Rodgers and Hammerstein tunes and newer production numbers from popular Broadway shows “The Producers, “Avenue Q and “Spamalot. For measure, the band will include the venerable big theatrical scores from legendary composers John Williams and James Horner.

Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Tickets for all performances in the ECC Arts Center are available online at tickets.elgin.edu or at the ECC box office in the arts center. Box office hours are noon to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. To purchase tickets by phone, call (847) 622-0300.
