Scouting Wheaton North at Naperville Central

Wheaton North (4-2, 2-2) at Naperville Central (3-3, 2-2)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

Last week: WW South 42, Wheaton North 14; Naperville North 27, Naperville Central 24.

Last year: Naperville Central 26, Wheaton North 23.

Outlook: Wheaton North would love to bottle the way it played through most of the first half against WW South when extended drives ate up chunks of clock. Quarterback Reece Butler, who has completed 73 percent of his passes for 1,269 yards, is perfect for the Falcons' short passing schemes that work like a ball-control ground game. Naperville Central's cross-town loss had highlights, including special teams play that featured a 93-yard kick return by Tyler Bell. Quarterback-receiver Hayden Daniels sparks the Redhawks' offense, but Ian Lewandowski is also critical. Last week the junior ran for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass.

Next week: Naperville North at Wheaton North; West Chicago at Naperville Central.
