For the first time in Lisa Dwyer's six years as Jacobs' girls volleyball coach, the Golden Eagles knocked off Crystal Lake South Tuesday night.
Taylor Lesner had 14 kills and 3 aces and Alyssa Ehrhardt added 8 kills, 10 digs and 4 aces as Jacobs won the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division match 14-25, 25-16, 25-12.
Elise Charron had 6 kills for Jacobs, Mattie Stearns added 10 digs and Quinn Luehring had 31 assists for the Golden Eagles, who travel to Cary Thursday night to play defending Class 4A state champion Cary-Grove, which has now won 28 straight matches.
CL South is now 7-3, 0-1.
Waubonsie Valley d. South Elgin: Laura Balance had 4 kills and 5 digs to lead South Elgin (4-5-1, 1-1) in its 25-14, 25-13 Upstate Eight (Valley) loss to Waubonsie Valley.
Bartlett d. Metea Valley: Lauren Hartford had 7 kills and Jacki Gulczynski and Kelly Kraft added four each as Bartlett (9-7-1, 1-1) downed Metea Valley 25-20, 25-23 in the Upstate Eight (Valley). Lauren Caruba added 14 digs for the Hawks and Kraft had six.
McHenry d. Dundee-Crown: Tanna Svec had 5 kills and Alexis Holm three but Dundee-Crown (2-8, 0-1) fell to McHenry 25-12, 25-18 in the Fox Valley (Valley) opener.
Elgin Academy d. North Shore: Claire Fluegel had 6 kills and 4 digs to help Elgin Academy get past North Shore Country Day 26-24, 25-20 in a Independent School League match. Angie Martinez had 7 assists and Cassey Lashay added 4 assists for the Hilltoppers.
St. Charles North d. Streamwood: Liz Simonelli had 7 assists for Streamwood in a 25-9, 25-13 loss to St. Charles North.
