York stuns top-ranked St. Charles North

York 8, St. Charles North 7: Kacey Morency's two-out double in the top of the seventh scored the go-ahead run and the No. 15 seed Dukes (18-16) stunned No. 2 and Daily Herald's top-ranked North Stars at the Class 4A Willowbrook regional.

Tessa Kroll, who was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, doubled to lead off the seventh in a 7-7 tie. Pinch runner Rachel Rodriguez eventually moved up on a ground out and scored on Morency's double.

St. Charles North (29-4), which had beaten York 11-1 in five innings in April, tied it 7-7 with 2 runs in the fifth. Taylor Russell hit a 2-run homer for the North Stars in the first inning and Sydney Russell had 2 doubles.

Naperville North 10, West Aurora 3: The No. 6 seed Huskies put up 6 runs in the second inning and 4 more in the third, rolling at the Class 4A East Aurora regional. Sammy Marshall went 2-for-3, scored 2 runs and drove in a run for Naperville North (20-13). Jess Stapleton also went 2-for-3 and scored twice.

Downers Grove North 2, Waubonsie Valley 1: Brittany Nagy singled in Kendall Ryndak with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth, as the No. 2 seed Trojans (27-8) held on at the Class 4A Benet regional. Ryndak (13-6) struck out nine in six innings, with Elaine Heflin striking out two in the seventh for the save.

Neuqua Valley 12, Plainfield South 0: Winning pitcher Colleen Hohman homered and drove in 3 for the No. 4 seed Wildcats at the Class 4A Plainfield Central regional.

Amanda Mener tripled and drove in 2 runs, Leigh Nebendahl doubled and scored in 2 runs, Katie Wido was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI and Corinne Sheley was 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored for Neuqua (24-10), which put up 7 runs in the third. Jenna Marsalli singled, walked twice, drove in a run and scored twice.

Lake Park 12, Glenbard East 0: Gina Castiglione hit a grand slam and Sarah Koch went deep with a 2-run homer in a 7-run third for No. 4 seed Lake Park (26-9) at the Class 4A Geneva regional. Samantha Becker was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI.

Elk Grove 4, Glenbard West 2: No. 1 seed Elk Grove (32-4) scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to avoid getting upset by Glenbard West (15-19) for the third straight year.

Downers Grove South 17, Hinsdale South 6: Katy LaCivita homered twice and Danielle Trezzo also went deep for the No. 1 seed Mustangs (27-6) at the Class 4A Hinsdale South regional. Marissa Mersch went 4-for-4 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored and Trezzo went 4-for-4 with 4 RBI and scored twice.

Fenton 13, Chicago Wells 2: Taylor Pugliese scored twice in an 11-run Bison (14-22) first inning at the Class 3A Fenton regional.

St. Viator 7, Wheaton Academy 0: St. Viator scored 5 times in the second inning at the Class 3A Hampshire regional. Kim Olson and Julia Kolanowski had the lone hits for Wheaton Academy (15-15).
