Friday's Fox Valley roundup
Cary-Grove pounded out 10 hits and freshman Lindsay Efflandt added to her school record pitching wins as the Trojans closed out the regular season with a 10-5 Fox Valley Conference crossover win over Grayslake North Friday.
Efflandt struck out seven and allowed 7 hits in running her record to 23-3 for the season.
Eleni Polites was 3-for-4 for the Trojans (27-6) and set the Cary-Grove single season record for stolen bases with her 28th of the year. Abbe Wienckowski had a double, Efflandt was 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI and Taylor Dunne added a double for Cary-Grove.
Huntley 6, Grayslake Central 3: Amandas Wisniewski was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI and Randi Peterson went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead Huntley (21-10) to this FVC crossover win. Tara Lycos was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Ary Burgos drove in a run for the Red Raiders. Taylor Larson (18-8) picked up the win.
Jacobs 4, Johnsburg 1: Sara Jacobson was 2-for-3 with a home run and Amber Livingston had 2 hits to lead the Golden Eagles (19-11) to an FVC crossover victory. Livingston (7-6) scattered 5 hits to earn the win in the circle.
Prairie Ridge 12, Dundee-Crown 2: Amanda Eissler and Melany Love had doubles for the Chargers (1-27) in this FVC crossover. Brittany Schultz added 2 hits for D-C. Eissler was the losing pitcher.
St. Charles East 6, Larkin 1: Losing pitcher Megan Johnson had an RBI for Larkin (9-23, 6-14), which lost its seventh straight in this Upstate Eight game.
Providence 3, Burlington Central 1: Ashley Scheffler was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Rockets (11-12) in this nonconference loss at the Stone City Jamboree. Sarah Kisch added 2 hits for BC and Kelsey Johnson (2-4) suffered the loss despite allowing only 5 hits.
