Monday's Fox Valley roundup

Jacobs scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning Monday and then held on to defeat Crystal Lake South 3-0 in a Fox Valley Conference baseball game in Crystal Lake.

Ben Albano delivered the big blow for the Golden Eagles, a 3-run home run. It was Albano's 13th home run of the season and he now has 54 RBI.

Nate Andersen and Kevin Hubner each had 2 hits for Jacobs (13-11, 7-8) and Matt Schmidt added 2 hits including a double.

Joe Ross (5-0) picked up the win for the Golden Eagles, allowing just 2 hits. He struck out four and walked three. Easton Kowalski was the loser for CL South. He struck out 10.

McHenry 3, Dundee-Crown 0: The Chargers (10-15, 7-8) managed only 3 hits in this Fox Valley Conference loss. Mark Lodi was the Chargers' losing pitcher.

Chicago Christian 10, St. Edward 9: David Hoebbel had a 3-run home run for the Green Wave (12-16) in this Suburban Christian Conference loss. Julian Ramirez had 2 doubles for St. Edward. Luke Duffy was the losing pitcher.

Hampshire 10, Rockford Christian 0: Ron Laramie went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Dylan Nihells had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Shane Hernandez drove in 2 runs and tossed a six-inning no-hitter for the Whip-Purs in this nonconference win. Hernandez struck out three and walked one.

College baseball

Judson splits in CCAC tourney: Judson University split its games in the CCAC Tournament Monday and now will have to play out of the loser's bracket. Judson won its opening game, 5-2, over Olivet Nazarene but then fell to Robert Morris, 4-2. Judson is now 36-20 on the year. Judson will face either Olivet Nazarene or St. Xavier in an elimination game today at 11 a.m. at St. Xavier University with the winner advancing to face Robert Morris in the championship game. The winner out of the loser's bracket will have to defeat Robert Morris twice to win the CCAC Tournament championship.
