Harper softball season ends in regional play-in game

Harper College's softball season came to an end Tuesday afternoon as the Hawks lost their best-of-three play-in series to Madison Area Technical College, dropping the first game 6-5 and the second 12-11.

In Game 1, the Hawks (5-26-1) were led by Katie Coffman, who was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. They led most of the way, but MATC took the lead in the sixth with the help of a pair of infield errors.

In Game 2, freshman Becky Koeune (Palatine) homered and went 3-for-5 to finish the day with 4 RBI. Katie Nolan went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI in Game 2.

"We did very well hitting today," said first-year Harper coach Brenda James.
