Students' creativity on display at ECC art gallery

Creativity is evident in the variety and quality of student work on display at Elgin Community College's E. Max von Isser Gallery of Art.

Visitors to the gallery can view artwork from 29 ECC students during the 19th annual ECC Juried Student Art Exhibition, which runs through Monday, May 10. The gallery is in the Student Resource Center on the main campus, at 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

The juror for the exhibit was Cynthia Hellyer Heinz, a color pencil artist who is the foundations coordinator at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. Of the 43 works selected, 10 placed first and one won best of show.

Winning best of show was David Lloyd of Bartlett for his painting. First place winners include: painting, Nick Morland, St. Charles; drawing, Anne Nickerson, East Dundee; printmaking, Ryan Kangail, Bartlett; mixed media, Jake Jarodsky, St. Charles; ceramics, Daniel Holman, Elgin; glass art and digital imaging, Amy Simpson, Elgin; jewelry, ames, Elgin; sculpture, Arnold Kinast, Hampshire; and photography, Rebecca van Dusen, Elgin.

Other student exhibitors include: Sam Cikauskas, Tyler Lalleman, Amanda Schwartz, Jose L. Reyes, Jillian Miranda and Michael J. O'Connor of Elgin; Claudia Frost, Kaitlyn Sears, Leslie LeVan and Barb Begalka of St. Charles; Mancheol Filinger and Diane White of Carpentersville; Lambert Lucietto and Kathy Bryslewicz of Bartlett; Sam Yohnk and Deb Pfohl of South Elgin; Kathy Thielman of West Chicago; Mario Ledesma of Streamwood; and Dirk Johansen of Campton Hills.
