'Jersey Boys' to help aid cancer research in Crystal Lake event
It's All About Kids Foundation recently announced it is going all out to increase its goal of financial support for local families who have a child suffering from cancer by offering a rare opportunity to see up close and personal some of the cast of "Jersey Boys."
The gala will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Holiday Inn in Crystal Lake. It will begin with dinner, followed by a show featuring Michael Ingersoll, Shonn Wiley, Michael Cunio and John Michael Dias, the four leading cast members of the Chicago production of "Jersey Boys."
There is limited seating for this evening of dinner and music. A silent and live auction will be part of the event.
It's All About Kids began more than 12 years ago, and in the past five years it has donated nearly $200,000 to pediatric cancer research, as well as providing financial support to local families facing the financial burden of a child with cancer. Since the beginning, this nonprofit organization has collected and delivered more than 10,000 hats to children at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
This year, four area families have been selected to receive support from the funds raised at the gala. These families live in McHenry, Woodstock and Cary.

Pediatric brain tumors are the leading cause of childhood cancer for youth younger than 20. There are 120 different brain tumors. Pediatric brain tumors are now surpassing leukemia, and 95 percent of the children with brain tumors are born normal and healthy.
It's All About Kids is also seeking support from the community for sponsorships and auction items. The organization works year-round to collect hats and other donations for children, their families and for cancer research.
