Joliet takes care of Harper
Coming off Saturday's 58-56 home win over rival College of DuPage, Harper College (9-15, 3-6) welcomed No. 6-ranked Joliet Junior College (20-4, 7-2) to the Sports and Wellness Center in Palatine on Tuesday.
The Wolves had fallen two spots in last week's NJCAA poll, thanks in part because of the COD loss. Joliet responded with an 84-68 N4C victory over the Hawks.
Forward Jordan Mack, who had been starting the last couple of games for Harper, did not play due to stretched ligaments in his knee. Mack suffered the injury this week in practice. Kevin Steele (Fremd) started in Mack's absence.
The Hawks where not the only team suffering from injury issues. Joliet is without preseason All-American Brandon Redmond (broken hand).
The Wolves quickly jumped to a 7-0 lead.
"We came out soft" said Harper sophomore guard Tracy Winston who provided a spark off the bench with a team-high 15 points.
Perish Bell added 14 points for the Hawks.
