Wheeling man in court today

The 22-year-old Wheeling man authorities say pushed a Harper College police officer in October is due back in court today in Rolling Meadows. Jay Dixon, charged with aggravated battery, is still in Cook County after a judge set his bond at $200,000.

Authorities say Dixon pushed the 58-year-old officer, causing him to fall backward and hit his head. The incident caused the officer's skull to fracture and bleeding and swelling of his brain. School officials won't comment on his exact condition, but say he's not yet back to work.

Dixon, who's also charged with resisting or obstructing a peace officer, is not registered for spring term classes.
