Barrington's roll continues; Fremd, Palatine win late
Barrington's hopes of continuing its holiday roll were slowed a bit in the first quarter of Tuesday's Mid-Suburban League boys basketball crossover at Prospect's Jean Walker Field House.
But the Broncos (9-6) got rolling again with a 22-point second quarter and pulled away to their sixth straight victory 74-62 as Bryan Wegner had a game-high 24 points and 7 rebounds.
Prospect (10-3) led 24-14 but Barrington turned around the game with a 17-2 tear.
"Bryan Wegner did an outstanding job all night," said Prospect coach John Camardella. "It was just a really rough night for us, but credit Barrington. They played extremely well."

Palatine 52, Meadows 45: Palatine (7-9) had been here before as it trailed by a point after three quarters and was tied with a little more than three minutes left in the MSL crossover.
But the Pirates, whose last four losses were by a total of 12 points with an overtime game, responded by scoring the final 7 points.
"We talked right at the start of the fourth quarter that this is where this team needs to be right now," said Palatine coach Eric Millstone. "We have to get right back on the bike.
"We said it again at the timeout (tied at 45-45) that this is where we need to be and we learned from those games."
Tommy Galvan (16 points, four 3s) and Mykyta Cheshko (12 points) had baskets and Michael Orris (12 points) had a 3-point play in the decisive run.
"We needed to close out a game (before hosting Fremd on Friday)," Millstone said. "It should be a good one."

Hersey 50, Hoffman 36: Hersey (8-6) saw a 22-7 halftime lead wiped out in the third quarter but recovered to pull away to the MSL crossover win over visiting Hoffman Estates (8-5).

"Coming down the stretch in the fourth quarter, Kyle and Connor Miklasz played well defensively and (Jordan) Mertes did a nice job leadership-wise and making good decisions."
