ECC closed for winter recess
The facilities at Elgin Community College are closed for the winter break and will reopen at 8 a.m. Jan. 4. Sixteen-week daytime and evening classes begin Jan. 19. Twelve-week classes begin Feb. 16. Eight-week classes begin Monday, March 15.
Holiday basketball camp
St. Charles North High School will host its annual holiday basketball camp Tuesday and Wednesday at the school. For those in grades three through five, the camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon. For those in seventh and eighth grades, the camp runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Preregistration for one day is $35 and $60 for both days. The walk-in fees are $40 for one day and $65 for two days. Coat collection
Delnor Hospital is collecting new and used winter coats, mittens, gloves, scarves and hats in its Coats for the Community drive through Thursday. Drop them off with the valets at the main entrance, 300 Randall Road, Geneva, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays. At other times, deliver them to the Giving Tree in the main lobby.
Scholarship raffle announced
The Foundation for Educational Excellence for West Chicago Elementary District 33 is offering a $10,000 college scholarship raffle. Tickets are $20 each and only 1,000 will be sold through April 5, 2010. The winner will be selected during a drawing near the start of District 33's April 8 school board meeting. Tickets are available in the main office at all District 33 schools and at the district's headquarters, 312 E. Forest Ave. in West Chicago. Tickets also can be purchased at DuPage National Bank's Main Street location in West Chicago and online at westchicago33.revtrak.net. The raffle is open to anyone 18 or older. Participants aren't required to live or work in West Chicago.
