Get in the Creole spirit of Christmas at concert

Preservation Hall Jazz Band, a living monument to the musicians and music of New Orleans, performs Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Elgin Community College Visual and Performing Arts Center.

The concert, "A Creole Christmas," begins at 7:30 p.m. in the arts center's Blizzard Theatre on the ECC main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

An annual must-see production for New Orleans families since 2005, this year marks the first time this group has taken its holiday spirit on the road. This concert of holiday music stays true to its New Orleans-style origins, bringing concert goers a new twist on traditional fare set to contemporary influences.

Since opening its doors to the public in 1961, Preservation Hall Jazz Band's mission is showcasing the national treasures of traditional New Orleans jazz to music fans.

Premier seating is available for $32 per person; $28 for other seating. Ticket are available online at www.tickets.elgin.edu. To purchase tickets by phone, call (847) 622-0300. All major credit cards are accepted.

Because of construction on Spartan Drive from McLean Boulevard west to Renner Drive, motorists may use either Fleetwood Drive or Weld Road to Second Street. From the west, motorists entering on Spartan Drive from Randall Road will be detoured north onto Renner Drive to access the campus. See detours at elgin.edu/maps.
