Glenbard parenting series:

A nationally recognized clinical psychologist will speak at Glenbard North High School tonight as part of Glenbard High School District 87's parenting series. Margaret Wehrenberg, author of "The Anxious Brain," specializes in the treatment of anxiety and depression. Her session, "Managing the Frustration, Confusion and Anxiety of Adolescence," begins at 7 p.m. at the Little Theatre of Glenbard North, 990 Kuhn Road in Carol Stream.

KidsMatter to cafe:

Area residents dining tonight at the Colonial Cafe, 8 W. Gartner Road, Naperville, may help KidsMatter by placing their receipt in the marked jar on the counter. The cafe will donate 30 percent of the bill to KidsMatter, a not-for-profit organization to empower youth and families to manage the stresses of everyday life.

Oak Brook holiday concert:

The Oak Brook Public Library will host Holiday Concert Under the Dome at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the library, 600 Oak Brook Road. The Hinsdale Central High School Madrigal Singers will present a medley of holiday music. For details, call (630) 368-7708.

Addison traffic results:

The Addison Police Department mobilized a special traffic enforcement on Wednesday, Nov. 25, to check for intoxicated motorists, people not wearing safety belts and erratic driving behaviors. For traffic-related offenses, the department made six arrests, issued 27 citations and 15 warning tickets. Officials said there were no alcohol related crashes during the hours of the mobilization.

Park plan ready for comment:

Naperville Park District residents may review the final draft of the district's five-year strategic plan and comment on it through Dec. 9. The park board review the plan again along with the public input at its Dec. 10 meeting. The plan may be reviewed at napervilleparks.org or at of the following local facilities: the district's Administrative Building, 320 W. Jackson Ave.; Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Local journalists go to big leagues:

Two staff members from Naperville Community Television Channel 17 are moving on to larger broacast television stations. "Naperville News 17" producer Lindsey Theis begins this week at the CNN world headquarters in Atlanta as a video journalist. Reporter Elitsa Bizios recently began at an ABC affiliate in North Carolina as the News Channel 12 weekend producer/anchor. Both started as interns at NCTV, where they worked under the guidance of executive producer Liz Spencer.
