St. Edward's girls basketball team came back from a loss to Freeport Aquin in the semifinals to beat the host school and finish third at the Dakota Thanksgiving Tournament Saturday.
The Green Wave suffered their first loss on the season as they were defeated 51-32 by Freeport Aquin in the semifinals. Callie Johnson was the lone double-digit scorer for the Green Wave with 13 points. Vincenza Ranallo and Madeline Kerr recorded 7 points each.
St. Edward (3-1) came back to pick up a 47-38 win over Dakota in the third-place game.
Kerr led the way for the Green Wave with a game-high 16 points. Alexandria Lee and Johnson chipped in 9 and 7 points, respectively.
Barrington 39, Crystal Lake South 26: Turnovers proved to be costly as the Gators (2-4) had as many turnovers as points scored in their 39-26 loss to Barrington at the Bison Invite. CL South's Michelle Gaede led all scorers with 16 points while Katie Burton and Lauren Chrystal were the only other scorers for the Gators, chipping in 6 and 4 points, respectively.
Minooka 52, Huntley 43: The Red Raiders (2-2) came up just short at the Warhawk Tournament. Hillary Johnson paced Huntley with 14 points. Katherine Lowery also scored double-digits adding 11 points.
Elgin Academy 30, Willows Academy 24: The Hilltoppers (1-1) picked up their first victory of the season on Saturday at their own tournament. Lauren Steimle led the Hilltoppers with 15 points.
Bartlett 49, Oak Forest 40: The Hawks (3-3) used a 19-point fourth quarter to seal their victory over Oak Forest at the Naperville Central/Benet Tip-Off Tournament. Janessa Baker (2 steals) and Lisa Palmer (5 rebounds) turned in double-digit performances with 10 points each for Bartlett.
