Friday's Lake County roundup

Vernon Hills' boys basketball team won despite being shorthanded Friday night.

Chris Morgan scored 16 points to lead the Cougars to a 41-37 win over the host school in the Northridge Prep Thanksgiving tournament.

Vernon Hills (2-1) played without DaVaris Daniels, who scored 56 points in the Cougars' first two games.

Freshman Stephen Curry and senior Brandon Curry each scored 8 points for Vernon Hills, which wraps up the tournament today with a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against Guerin.

Evanston 60, Grayslake Central 58: At Mundelein, Josh Rappaport returned to the Rams' lineup after a one-game absence and scored 20 points in the losing effort.

Andrew Sipes added 13 points for Grayslake Central (0-3).

Garrett Jones had 24 points for Evanston.

Johnsburg 59, Grant 32: At Johnsburg, the host Skyhawks received 14 points Mike Dixon, 11 from Mike Dombrowski and 10 from C.J. Fiedorowicz.

Grant (1-2) was led by Bill Kahn with 13 points.
