Harper women roll past Olive-Harvey
The inside-outside combination of sophomore preseason All-American guard Peggie Parhas (Lake Zurich) and 6-foot freshman forward Betsy Bailey (Palatine) that helped the Harper women's basketball team dismantle visiting Olive-Harvey 92-26 on Saturday.
The 92 points was just 6 points short of the Harper single-game record.
The Hawks' 4-2 start is the best start since the '05-06 season.
"I stepped up my game" Bailey said of her 14-point performance.
Bailey indicated that after not playing competitive basketball for two years, the feel of the game might be coming back to her.
Bailey and Parhas (20 points) did not play the final 14:30 of the second half, allowing coach Mark Smith to get plenty of minutes for his backups.
"Everybody played really well today," Parhas said.
Especially Siobian Carney (Schaumburg), who scored 12 of her 20 points in the second half. Hawks guard Anna Kirchoff (Barringon) scored 14 points, and Jasmine Chew had a season-high 8 points.
