Tuesday's Lake County roundup
Wauconda d. Round Lake: The Bulldogs' 10th consecutive win in North Suburban Prairie action (dating back to last season) was hardly an easy one.
Wauconda prevailed 27-25, 23-25, 31-29 to improve to 16-3 overall and 4-0 in the division.
Maddie Westman and Stephanie Olson led the Bulldogs with 18 and 16 kills, respectively. Olson also had 14 digs, while Michelle Waltenburg had 12 to go along with 42 assists.
Round Lake got 10 kills from Chanee Brown. Emily Beane delivered 6 kills and 4 aces, while Hayley Vaughn dished out 25 assists. The Panthers also received 36 digs from Stephanie Infante and 6 kills from Hayley Ward.
Mundelein d. Conant: Michelle Parssinen had 7 kills and 2 blocks, as the Mustangs won the nonconference match 25-19, 25-9 to hike their record to 14-5.
Brittany Jones added 6 kills, Alysa Fritz served 3 aces, Megan Barron recorded 15 digs, and Kelsey Sullivan lofted 21 assists on 44-of-44 setting.
Lakes d. Lake Forest Acad.: Mandy Fischer posted 5 kills and 7 blocks, and Jessie Richter had 4 kills and 2 aces, helping the Eagles win 25-20, 25-21.
Setters Rachel Sieracke (24 of 24) and Kailey Molloy (22 of 22) dished out 10 and 6 assists, respectively, for Lakes (9-8-2). Ashley Sodt and Sally Kenney led the defense with 7 digs apiece.
"Good game," Lakes coach Carla Thompson said. "We were able to maintain our focus for the entire match. Mandy Fischer had a great game. This was made possible because we are passing and digging better. We were able to make some lineup changes over the weekend and it seems to have made a difference for now."
Prospect d. Vernon Hills: The Knights won 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, despite Alisa Welter's 9 kills for the Cougars.
Nora Snyder added 6 kills for Vernon Hills (13-6). Alana Coy and Megan Dougherty distributed 10 and 9 assists, respectively.
Johnsburg d. Grayslake North: Kinsey Siler had 4 kills for the Knights in their 25-14, 25-20 loss.
Sarah Walker and Sara Steinhoff each had 3 kills for Grayslake North (5-13, 1-5 Fox Valley Fox).
