Wauconda wins 13th straight
Make it a lucky 13 for Wauconda volleyball.
The Bulldogs extended their winning streak to 13 matches thanks to a 25-12, 25-15 win over visiting Woodstock on Thursday night.
Maddie Westman and Stephanie Olson had 9 and 8 kills, respectively, for Wauconda (15-3). Cara Nance added 5 kills, while Olson and Erin Hellweg each had 3 aces. Hellweg hammered 3 kills, as well. Michelle Waltenburg led with 13 digs, and Megan Tallman lofted 19 assists.
Carmel d. Fenwick: Megan Mowery and Hannah Turner had 6 kills apiece, as the Corsairs won their first East Suburban Catholic match, 25-21, 25-19.
Carmel (8-8, 1-3) also got 5 kills from Sarah Stanton. Erin Paterkiewicz chipped in 3 aces and 2 kills.
Stevenson d. Warren: The Patriots pulled above .500 again, winning 25-11, 25-15 in North Suburban Lake action.
Carlee Berland had 4 kills and 5 blocks (2 solo) for Stevenson (8-7, 2-2), while Kierstyn Hansen posted 8 blocks (3 solo). Jenna Przybyla added 3 aces and 5 assists, and Amber Hughes led the defense with 8 digs.
Grayslake Central d. Grayslake North: Team play helped the Rams knock off their crosstown rival in front of a homecoming crowd.
Grayslake Central (9-15, 2-4 Fox Valley Fox) had 20 kills, 4 blocks and 6 aces.
"We had a total team effort," Rams coach Jason Janczak said. "Everyone stepped up and played a great match. We played an all-around solid match."
For Grayslake North (5-12, 1-4), Kinsey Siler had 5 kills and 2 blocks. Katie McGrath contributed 7 digs and 3 kills.
