Make that 3 straight shutouts for Glenbard N.

Let the streak continue.

Glenbard North beat Wheaton North 32-0 for its third shutout in a row and 13 straight quarters without giving up a point. But the win didn't come easily.

The Panthers (4-0) led 6-0 at half when the defense really started making plays to help open the game up.

With 10:31 left in the third quarter, Glenbard North's Andre Smith jumped a route and took it back 46 yards for a score, putting the Panthers up 12-0. Less than three minutes it was linebacker Chris Wahrman pouncing on a loose football, giving the Panthers the ball at the 38-yard line. Two plays after the fumble recovery Ben Hester went up the middle for a 19-yard touchdown run, putting the game out of reach.

"We take pride in ourselves on defense," Smith said. "We don't want to have to win close ballgames. We want to see zeros up on the score board for the other team. We are a total unit, there are no me's on this football team. I think that is why our defense has been playing so well because we play as one."

Glenbard North starting running back Evin Natick played only one series as he had a sore calf. But that opened up the backfield to yet another running back, Hester, who ran the ball 26 times for 110 yards and 3 touchdowns.

"We've been practicing real hard and everyone is ready to fill in for someone at any time," Hester said. "I never get close to this many carries but I wasn't tired. Everyone on this team is ready to play."

The defense stepped up more than just by creating turnovers - it also did a nice job keeping Wheaton North's offense off the field. The Falcons mustered 109 yards of total offense and got 5 first downs.

"They are as good as anyone in this league," Wheaton North coach Joe Wardynski said. "They have a great group of guys on the defensive side of the ball. I expect them to win many more football games. They just flat out outplayed us tonight. I tip my cap to them."

Wheaton North (2-2) played without quarterback Taylor Graham, who has orally committed to Ohio State University, due to a posterior cruciate knee ligament injury suffered against Lake Zurich in Week 2.

"He's out for a few weeks but we expect him back," Wardynski said. "He will play with a brace on and will be fine."
