Fox Valley Theatre Co. to present 'Children of Eden'
The impact that one generation's actions have on the lives of the following generation, and the ability of individuals to make their own choices for their lives are issues as pertinent in today's society as any other issues, and these themes will be explored in September through the musical storytelling of two well-known biblical tales.
Featuring more than 40 young adults and children, the Fox Valley Theatre Company will present the stories of Adam and Eve and Noah through Stephen Schwartz' acclaimed musical "Children of Eden."
Schwartz also is known for writing the musicals "Godspell," "Pippen" and "Wicked," and for writing the lyrics for movies such as "Pocahontas" and "Enchanted." A 15-piece band will accompany the performers through more than 20 songs as they explore the timeless subthemes of the two biblical stories.
"Children of Eden" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Sept. 11-19, at Elgin Community College's Blizzard Theatre, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. It also will be presented at 3 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 13 and 20, with a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday, Sept. 19.
Tickets are $10, $8 for students, seniors and groups of 20 or more.
