Viking Booster Club's rummage sale: 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, July 31 and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, Fremd High School Cafeteria and parking lot, Palatine. "Beat the Recession" Rummage sale: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, July 31, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, North Northfield United Methodist Church, 797 Sanders Road, Northbrook. Low-cost household and clothing will be among the items available during a "Beat the Recession" rummage sale. Ten percent of the proceeds will also be donated to local food pantries. The Friends of the Arlington Heights Library's Summerfest Sale with discounts on used books, magazines, games and more. Maine Township Community Garage Sale and Flea Market: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Road, Park Ridge. Reserve a space to sell your own treasures for the garage sale or craft fair. Residents can also make a donation of cash or merchandise to the sale.

Oct. 4

Fall fest: St. Alphonsus Liguori will host a Fall Fest and Craft Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at St. Alphonsus, 411 N. Wheeling Road in Prospect Heights. Crafters are needed for the craft fair. The fee is $35 for 8x8 ft space and includes one table and one chair, or $60 for two spaces with two tables and two chairs. Electrical outlets are available upon request. Crafters will be allowed access as early as 7:30 a.m. for set up in the gymnasium. Crafters will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis.
