Get cracking on ethics reform

The Bloomingdale Township Democratic Organization would like to commend the Daily Herald for their recent coverage of ethics reform, both on the front page and in the editorial section. I'm sure we all agree that these reforms are long overdue in state government but we have an excellent opportunity to get the ball rolling right here in DuPage County On March 10 the DuPage County Board Ad Hoc Committee on Transparency and Accessibility released its preliminary report. I would like to congratulate this bipartisan committee for providing some progressive ideas for reform in county government in the areas of budget, expense disclosure, procurement, ethics and campaign finance. The committee requested passage of a resolution accepting their recommendations and for making the formalizing the continued pursuit of government transparency and accessibility. The effort to get this resolution passed has been spearheaded by District 3 board member Tony Michelassi. The Bloomingdale Township Democratic Organization strongly approves of the recommendation of the committee and the efforts of Mr. Michelassi. At the moment no action has been taken on this recommendation. We would urge you to contact your county board members and chairman Schillerstrom and ask them to move to the forefront of ethics reform.
