Cary-Grove 10, Conant 0: The Cary-Grove grove attack amassed 13 hits and senior pitcher Corey Bruns (1-2) allowed just 2 hits, struck out 5 and walked 4 in 6 innings in Hoffman Estates. Bruns also helped himself with a home run, while Chris Waylock, Nick Hammonds and Eric Chandler each doubled for the Trojans (5-3-1).
"We got very good pitching from Corey," C-G coach Don Sutherland said. "We got into their bullpen early and opened it up."
Boylan 2, Huntley 1: Southern Illinois-bound pitcher Tanner Funke (3-1) and the Red Raiders endured the their first loss of the season against the visiting Titans. Funke threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. He allowed 1 earned run, a home run by Michael Morman, struck out 11 and walked none. Craig Lipp went 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored for Huntley (7-1-1).
CL South 10, Hoffman 6: The host Gators scored 6 runs in the fourth inning to overcome the Hawks' early 6-1 lead, and they tacked on 3 more in the sixth to win. Reliever Jimmy Kalovsek (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless inning and Josh Ruck notched a hard-earned save with 3 innings of scoreless relief. Alex Macauley doubled twice and Billy Wright doubled for the Gators (5-3).
Burlington Central 14, Streamwood 4: The Rockets scored at least 2 runs in every inning of a lopsided 5-inning victory in Streamwood. Tanner Scott went 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI, Austin Jarvis went 2-for-3 and scored 3 runs and Bill Rodriguez finished 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 5 RBI for Burlington Central (3-3). Matt Cohen doubled for the Sabres (1-3-1).
