Panthers sweep York, St. Francis takes Fenwick
Glenbard North 3-6, York 0-2: Hannah Santora (1-2) struck out 11 in a two-hit shutout in the first game. Bri DiGioia went 2-for-3 with a run scored and drove in the game's first run in the sixth. In the second game Panthers freshman Lilly Fecho struck out nine. Jenny Nelson went 2-for-3 with a 2-run homer and double for Glenbard North (2-2).
St. Francis 13-4, Fenwick 3-3: Lauren Gorski and Laura Behnke each drove in 2 runs for the Spartans in the first game. Therese Kerr got the win in the first game, and had a two-run double in the second game for St. Francis (6-2).
Downers Grove North 2-3, Glenbard East 0-1: Kendall Ryndak struck out nine in a four-hit shutout for the Trojans in the first game. In Game 2 Hallie Niewold struck out nine, and added a two-run double in the first inning. Ryndak and Jules Burton each went 2-for-3 for Downers Grove North (2-1).
Fenton 7-10, Maine East 0-2: Samantha Rubright went 3-for-3, homered and drove in 3 runs and Marissa Vazquez and Kelly Welch each had 2 hits for the Bison (4-1) in the opener. In the second game Rubright went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI.
Hinsdale Central 7-3, Willowbrook 1-2: Host Hinsdale Central (4-4) swept the West Suburban Conference crossover when Jordan Kulawiak drove in the tying run in the sixth inning then singled home Lauren Franke in the eighth inning of Game 2. Kulawiak (3-3) threw a complete game in Game 1 and won the second game in 1 2/3 innings of relief of Franke. Kate McGivney went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles in Game 1. Nicole Interrante took the losses in both games for Willowbrook.
Ridgewood 7-6, Driscoll 6-5: Tarah McShane had 2 doubles and a triple and Kasey Reaber went 5-for-8 over the two games for Driscoll (4-5).
