Mulligan delivers for Buffalo Grove

Buffalo Grove junior Kevin Mulligan didn't have any time for a mulligan on his last-second drive down the court in Tuesday's Mid-Suburban League boys basketball crossover with visiting Hoffman Estates.

Mulligan hit a short turnaround jumper with two seconds left as BG (16-10) pulled out a 41-40 victory.

"We were in the bonus and Kevin had been able to get to the basket most of the night," said BG coach Ryan O'Connor. "We were hoping he'd get to the basket and if they sagged we'd have some shooters spot up."

Mulligan (12 points) also kept Hoffman (18-9) senior Luke Mead scoreless until he hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 10 seconds left.

Nick Prus had 9 first-half points and Mike Cornely added 8 points for BG. Kemill Long (17 points) and Chris Hall (12) led Hoffman.

Barrington 51, Hersey 49: Mack Darrow scored a game-high 23 points and Barrington (6-21) held on despite a 3-point fourth quarter in the MSL crossover.

"We took a timeout with three minutes left and said, 'Guys, if they never score another point and we play good defense we're going to win,'" said Barrington coach Marty Dello. "After Libertyville (38-37 loss Saturday) and everything else we'll take it."

Kyle O'Keefe had 10 points and two 3s and Daniel Evers had 11 rebounds as Barrington built a 50-38 lead. Chris Howard hit 1 of 2 free throws with two seconds left to set the final score as Hersey (11-15) had turnovers on its last two possessions.

Connor Miklasz had 10 points for the Huskies.

Maine W. 48, Maine S. 45: Maine West (9-18) allowed only 5 fourth-quarter points and Nate Andersen hit 2 free throws with 1.2 seconds left to seal the Central Suburban League crossover.

Tommy Solis had 14 points, 4 deflections and 3 steals and held Brian Schlitter of Maine South (16-9) to 2 of his 14 points in the second half.

"That was one of Tommy's better games of the year," said Warriors coach Erik McNeill.

Sebastian Stasiakiewicz added 13 for Maine West.

Conant 66, Meadows 60: Tony Rizzo (17 points), Tim Gilhooly (15) and Cameron Leavitt (10) led Conant (18-7) in the MSL crossover. Will Trunk scored 18 and Jimmy Garoppolo added 15 for Meadows (12-14).

Fremd 53, Elk Grove 37: Dan Bruno (15 points) and Chris Klimek (11) led Fremd (11-14) in the MSL crossover. Andy Larson scored 8 points for Elk Grove (7-20).
