Transition planning
St. Charles East High School will host the Post-Secondary Transition Planning Night for students with disabilities and their families from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 1040 Dunham Road, St. Charles. Students and families from the St. Charles, Batavia, Geneva, Kaneland, Burlington, West Chicago and U-46 districts, and the Mid-Valley Cooperative, are welcome to attend. Families can receive firsthand information from in-state and out-of-state colleges, vocational schools, adult agencies, day and residential programs, recreation and transportation service providers.
Celebrate Black history
In celebration of Black History Month, Waubonsee Community College's African Cultural Alliance will present "A Timeline of Tradition and Heritage" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in the auditorium of the college's Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. Art at coffeehouse

Spaghetti for flowers
"Pasta for Posies," a fundraiser for the Geneva Beautification Committee, is at 5 p.m. March 4 at Riverview Banquets, 1117 N. Washington Ave., Batavia. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 10 and younger. There is a 50/50 raffle and a quilt raffle. Geneva horticulturist Mary Stavenhagen will conduct a seminar on gardening and answer planting and flower arranging questions. Tickets are sold at Farmers Insurance, the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, the Geneva History Center, Graham's 318, The Olive Mill and Viking Office Supply, all in Geneva. 'Foxfare' tickets on sale
Batavia MainStreet's "FoxFare" gala, "Viva Las Vegas," is at 6 p.m. March 15 at the Lincoln Inn, 1345 S. Batavia Ave. Tickets are $45. Fox Valley chefs and caterers will provide sample-size portions of their signature dishes, and there will be silent and live auctions, music and other entertainment. Tickets are on sale at Foltos Tonsorial Parlor, Harris Bank, The Red Geranium, Special Occasions, Sue's Family Hair Co., and Batavia MainStreet.
