An Emmy-nominated motivational speaker will deliver his drug-free message this week to parents and students at Glenbard high schools.
Milton Creagh will lead three events on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 17 and 18, revolving around his theme, "Parenting is the Key: The Realities Facing Today's Teens."
Gilda Ross, student and community projects coordinator at Glenbard High School District 87, said Creagh last spoke at the schools in 2006 and attracted large crowds.
"We call him 'Tell It Like It Is Milton,'" she said. "He talks about how it's everyone's responsibility to help students make healthy choices."
The sessions will focus on teen drug and alcohol use.
Creagh, who travels the country to speak to students and parents, will speak during the annual Live Life Well Week that launched with a Smoke-Free/Bowl Free event Sunday and a includes a blood drive on Thursday.
All events featuring Creagh are free and open to the public. Creagh will speak at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Glenbard South auditorium, 23W200 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn. Another session begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Glenbard North auditorium, 990 Kuhn Road, Carol Stream.
The final event begins with a drop-in discussion for parents and students focusing on minority student achievement at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by his full presentation at 7 p.m. at Glenbard East, 1014 S. Main St. Lombard.
"(Creagh) really has such a unique and powerful way of connecting with his audiences," Ross said. "People love Milton."
