Murdock's 26 points lead RL
Round Lake girls basketball coach Gary Edge didn't start leading scorer Labrenthia Murdock against visiting Grant on Tuesday night.
When the game mattered most, however, Murdock was on the floor - and she delivered.
Murdock sank 6 of 6 free throws in the fourth quarter, finishing with a career-high 26 points, as the Panthers rallied for a 52-47 win.
It was the 20th win of the season for Round Lake (20-3, 10-1), which hosts Wauconda (18-3, 10-1) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in a game that will determine the North Suburban Prairie Division champion.
Murdock, who scored 8 points in the fourth in helping the Panthers wipe out a 36-34 deficit after three, was 14 of 15 from the foul line for the game.
Round Lake also got a big game from Amber Phillips, who had 12 points. Stephanie Infante was 5 of 6 from the line, scoring 4 points in the fourth.
Grant (14-10, 5-5) was led in scoring by Amber Potts with 15 points, including three 3-pointers. Gina Cellucci added 14, sinking four 3s. Heather Chapman chipped in 10.
Libertyville 59, Zion-Benton 38: Kristy Williams scored 16 points (two 3-pointers) for the host Wildcats, who won their North Suburban Lake finale.
Erin Waehner added 12 points for Libertyville (16-9, 8-4).
Helena Rodriguez had 10 points for Zion-Benton.
Antioch 49, Warren 45: The host Sequoits won the North Suburban crossover, as Katrina Holm (three 3-pointers) and Lindsey Gofron each had 12 points and 4 steals.
Martha Arntson grabbed 6 rebounds for Antioch (10-12), which jumped out to a 16-4 lead in the first quarter before holding on for the victory.
Joree Green led Warren (10-15) with 16 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Amanda Barger added 10 points, and Kim O'Leary hit two 3s.
Vernon Hills 47, Lakes 30: Jessica Feece had 14 points and 3 steals, as the visiting Cougars won their third in a row.
Vernon Hills (12-13, 5-6) also got good contributions from Alana Coy (10 points, 4 steals, 2 assists), Mallory Feece (9 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals) and Sarah Krippinger (8 points, 3 steals, 3 rebounds).
Lakes' Mary Doupis scored 11 points.
Lake Zurich 47, Lake Forest 44: The North Suburban Lake leaders survived a scare, as Olivia Allen scored 20 points.
Lake Zurich improved to 23-5 overall and 9-2 in the NSC Lake. The Bears can wrap up the division title with a home win against Stevenson on Friday night.
Lake Forest (8-16, 3-8) was led in scoring by Megan Moore with 11 points.
