Briefs: Addison welcomes racing venue
Chicago Indoor Racing is now open at 2381 W. Army Trail Road, Addison. This is the company's second location, following the Buffalo Grove location that opened in 2003. The 105,000-square-foot entertainment and meeting complex features race courses, meeting spaces that accommodate up to 700 people, lounges and a restaurant. Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays; 4 to 11 p.m. Thursdays; noon to midnight Fridays; 3 p.m. to midnight Saturdays; 3 to 9 p.m. Sundays. Naperville gets environmental award
Naperville is one of more than 36 honorees being inducted into the National, Illinois and Environmental Halls of Fame in Chicago. The city is being recognized for its Renewable Energy program which has seen participation by almost 8.5 percent of the city's residential utility customers. The city partners with wind energy supplier Community Energy, Inc. to offer a blend of wind, small hydro and solar-generated electricity to its utility customers. The estimated benefits created by the city's 4,328 participants is equivalent to removing 3,574 cars from the road or planting more than 1.6 million trees.
West Side Story performance
Glenbard South High School's Drama Department will present "West Side Story" at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13, 14 and 15 in the auditorium. The musical, based on Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," features more than 100 students in the cast, crew and pit orchestra. Tickets are on sale for $7, and all seats are reserved. Football fundraiser for pets
Illinois Doberman Rescue supporters will host a football party fundraiser during the Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions game at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Crossroads Tavern and Eatery, 396 Irving Park Road, Wood Dale. Admission is $15 and includes food, raffles, football pools and a silent auction. Admission is a donation of $15 per person and registration is required.
