On the girls tennis horizon

With the Mid-Suburban League tournament coming up next weekend, Barrington is looking to run its streak of titles to 14.

The Fillies are rolling along behind four returning state qualifiers: sophomore Kristy Dodge, and juniors Allison Linden, Meg Crowley and Dana Pierce.

Buffalo Grove has been good all year in the MSL East and is probably the only team with enough depth to challenge the Fillies. Coach Kevin Schrammel paired sophomore Nell Boyd and senior Kate Meyers at No. 2 doubles at the Prospect Fall Classic last weekend and the two are usually singles players. It will be interesting to see if they continue to play doubles.

Prospect has some pretty talented upperclassmen such as junior Anne Duggan and senior Becky Santiago. The consistent improvement of freshman Maggie Partridge provides added depth that could be good for the MSL meet.

Rolling Meadows has very good doubles teams and it's No. 1 duo of MaryClare Loughery and Kim Martini scored an impressive victory over Buffalo Grove's Ashton and Heather Nisbet at the Prospect Fall Classic last weekend.

Can Loughery and Martini do it again at the MSL meet?

Other players to watch include Fremd's Jenna Langhorst, BG's Nell Boyd and Hersey's Kim Wasielewski, Andrea Perkins, Saori Chiba and Erica Borst.
