Crockpot Sweet and Sour Beef
Cooking oil
3- to 4-pound chuck or blade roast
1 onion, chopped
1 can (10¾ ounces) cream of mushroom soup
½ cup water
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup vinegar
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Heat a thin film of oil in a saute pan; brown meat 3 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer to slow cooker.
In a bowl whisk together onion, mushroom soup, water, brown sugar, vinegar, salt, mustard and Worcestershire; pour over meat. Cover and cook on low 12-16 hours. Serve with stuffing or mashed potatoes.
Serves six to eight.
