DuPage Co. briefs

Naperville bridge reopens:

The Bailey Road bridge over the west branch of the DuPage River in Naperville is scheduled to reopen to vehicular and pedestrian traffic next week. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is slated for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Bailey and Washington Street, city officials said Thursday. Originally built in 1969, the bridge, which handles about 12,000 vehicles a day, had reached the end of its life expectancy. The $2.8 million reconstruction project began in May, with roughly 80 percent of the funding coming through the Federal Highway Bridge Rehabilitation and Replacement Program.
