• International Chess Grandmaster John Fedorowicz will take on 30 players simultaneously at 7 p.m. July 22 at the Addison Public Library, 4 Friendship Plaza. • Literacy DuPage is offering a six-session volunteer tutor training course from 6 to 9 p.m. July 22, 24, 29, 31, Aug. 5 and 19 at the Wheaton Public Library, 225 N. Cross St. Volunteers must be 18 or older, have a high school diploma and be able to read, write and speak English fluently. No teaching experience is necessary. Volunteers must attend all six training sessions. Tutors meet with their learners at a time and location that is convenient for both. • Tom Malouf will perform a free outdoor concert, "Friends We've Never Met" at 7 p.m. July 23 at the Wheaton Public Library, 225 N. • Experienced chess players may register starting July 23 to play International Chess Grand Master John Fedorowicz at 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Helen M. Plum Memorial Library, 110 W. Maple St., Lombard.
