Lake Park wins twice in Ohio
Lake Park's softball team wrapped up its trip to Ohio by finishing the Wendy's National Invitational with a 3-1 mark, running its overall record to 8-1.
On Saturday the Lancers defeated a pair Ohio teams, outscoring Triad 8-7 and Archbishop Hoban 3-2.
Missy Mazur was the winning pitcher against Hoban, running her record to 8-1. She also drove in 2 runs and scored the third in the sixth inning.
Against Triad Angie Bates (2-0) was the winning pitcher, getting support from Carly Willert, who was 4-for-4 with a double and a triple.
Downers Grove South 7-0, WW South 0-5: The Mustangs' Brooke Anderson went 3-for-4 with a homer and 5 RBI and pitcher Karissa Habel (5-2) limited the Tigers to 1 hit, striking out 10 in a complete-game victory in Game 1. WW South got the win back in the second game as Meaghan Sullivan went 3-for-4 with a RBI.
Naperville North 5-7, Oswego East 3-2:ŒEmily Dieckmann recorded the victory in both games for the Huskies in a nonconference doubleheader. Game 2 lasted just 5 innings.
West Chicago 3-1, Batavia 0-3: Mary Connolly (8-3) earned the victory in Game 1 for the Wildcats (8-4), then went 2-for-2 in the second game. Linnea Detrick drove in 2 runs in the opener.
Fenton 6-6, Streamwood 1-1:ŒSasha Molina's fifth-inning triple in Game 1 helped the Bison to 4 runs in the inning. Amber Schwarzinger (7-4) won her sixth consecutive start. In Game 2 Deanna Vasquez (1-0) helped the Bison (8-5) win their seventh straight and Molina drove in the go-ahead run.
Neuqua Valley 4-13, Plainfield North 3-0:ŒNeuqua Valley (5-8) swept the nonconference doubleheader behind pitchers Colleen Hohman (2-4) and Lindsay Colvin (2-1). Hohman struck out 16 in the opener and Jenna Marsalli hit a 2-run home run. In Game 2 Megan Rice went 3-for-3 and scored twice and Summer McKenzie was 3-for-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI.
Naperville Central 4-10, York 1-4: Junior pitcher Natalie Wunderlich (7-0) earned the win in Game 1, and freshman Alyssa Wunderlich (2-0) did the same in Game 2, striking out 16. Megan Silke went 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 runs batted in.
Immaculate Conception 6-5, Timothy Christian 5-3:ŒThe Knights (6-6) swept the nonconference doubleheader of Elmhurst schools, with Erin Dunne and Briana Iosco picking up the wins. Lauren Hansberger drove in 3 runs and scored 2 on the day for the Trojans (6-5).

Neuqua Valley 2, South Elgin 0:ŒIan Krol (1-1) fired a 5-inning no-hitter with 11 strikeouts for the Wildcats (10-3, 6-1) in their Upstate Eight Conference victory.
Benet 11-10, St. Viator 1-7:ŒWinning pitcher Bryan Roberts (3-1) struck out nine in 4 innings, homered and drove in 4 runs for the Redwings (8-4, 4-0) in Game 1 of their East Suburban Catholic Conference sweep, then got the save in the second game. Roberts added a home run and 3 RBI in Game 2. Pat Gelwicks also had 3 RBI while Alex Staehely had 4 hits and 4 RBI on the day.
Fenton 4-10, Ridgewood 3-0:ŒThe Bison (7-6, 5-0) turned five double plays to sweep and stay unbeaten in the Metro Suburban Conference. Sean O'Connell (2-1) and Billy Gratzl (3-1) were the winning pitchers.
Willowbrook 11-10, Proviso East 0-0:ŒAlex Gasiamis (2-0) and Nick Cuzzone (2-1) both pitched 5-inning shutouts for the Warriors (10-6, 5-4) in their West Suburban Gold sweep. Dave McKendrick went 5-for-7 with 3 RBI in the two games.
Hinsdale South 15-14, Addison Trail 5-8:ŒGary Mayberry had 5 hits, a home run and 6 RBI as the Hornets (8-7, 6-2) swept in the West Suburban Gold. Ryan Zenger (3-0) and Joe Begel (2-1) earned the wins. Kevin Babica and Matt Turk homered for Addison Trail (1-16, 0-10).
Lake Park 18, Buffalo Grove 10:ŒMario Fearon hit 2 grand slams and had 3 hits for the Lancers (8-4), who scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh while rallying to a nonconference victory.
St. Francis 8, Wheaton North 6:ŒMichelangelo Consiglio and D.J. Lynch each had 2 hits for the Spartans (8-4) in their nonconference win. Zach Clark (1-0) was the winning pitcher. Ryan Javech went 2-for-3 with a double for Wheaton North (10-4).
Naperville Central 4, Lockport 1:ŒPat Kaminska went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI for the Redhawks (9-4) in their nonconference victory. John Holm also drove in a run. Clint Woods (2-0) won in relief while Dan Griffin earned his second save.
